Please get in the directory of "ACLTWIN", and delete the LOCK MENU

As I knew, AutoCAD LT does not support 3D function like REVSURF
command.
So I do not think you could run REVSURF function behind AutoCAD LT
environment.

This is an unbelievably surrealistic thread. Did any of you ever take
a drafting class or work with a professional? At the risk of sounding
arrogant, I can immediately tell an entry level drafter from an
advanced by their use of line weight. While Sr. Reyna makes a valid
point below with the monitor resolution issue, it's only valid when
viewing from a certain distance. I would much rather view my lines as
they are (WYSIWYG, eh?) than have to interpret their color (either for
myself or for a client) to their actual line width.

Amilia, does the printer work with other programs? if not, it could be a bad connection
if it works other programs, then go back to the config in autocad, and double check your
settings.

If I nderstand your question right, you have your clients drawing that you're inserting
into your drawing, and you want to scale this device down in size. You can scale the intire
block without loosing any proportion. I would do this first, then join to the existing
shapes
I hope this is what you were wanting

My University (UC Berkeley) sells AutoCad R12. This is not the newest

R13. It sells (educated discount price) for around $200.

Personally I believe mtext was devised to provide a means of providing a certain
level of text processing within the drawing editor. I wasn't, again in my
opinion, intended to be used for single line notation. The time it takes to
bring up the text editor box along with rather rediculous necessity to
physically "mouse" the OK button instead of a tab operation between the various
dialog box options as in the standard Windows interface makes mtext slower in
these instances .... in my opinion.
You will also generate an anonymous block for each text insertion which adds
some unnecessary fluff to the drawing.
I don't think it's a decision that was very well thought out. There are better,
more efficient ways to insure consistency in drawing text.

This is in the realm of DTM (digital terrain modeling). There are some
relatively inexpensive options in the form of commercial programs available. If
it's a one time effort, email me the drawing and I can create the mesh for you.
I'm not aware of any means to create a blended mesh from withing AutoCAD itself.

A number of people have suggested this and I've tried, in vain, to sweep a
closed triangular polyline representing the "v" shape of a thread root along the
helix. Nothing wrong with the helix, it's the way AutoCAD rotates the shape
through the curve that's the problem.
Circular sections seem to sweep without this problem, but triangular, or
rectangular shapes are not maintained perpendicular to the axes of the polyline
segments a they are extruded. The end up being rotated, or perhaps *not* rotated
about the z axis correctly.

I have no idea what the shape of these objects is like, but if you select them
all, then use the "scale" command and pick any convenient point, they will, or
should scale down as a group retaining their relative position and distance from
each other.

In the English version of AutoCAD, at least the R13c4 version that I'm staring
at, the command is DIMCONTINUE. And it most certainly *does* work using relative
point entry.
The problem is that the measured distance is from the system variable
"lastpoint" which will return a bogus dimension under certain circumstances
depending on where and how the dimension line was placed for the preceding
dimension object.

From: jeeper@halcyon.com (Dennis Shinn)
Date: Mon, 18 Nov 1996 08:01:30 GMT
This is not in reply to the original message that began the thread. What I would
like to know is if anyone has had any success in using MLEDIT to actually fillet
and join multi-line objects? Especially mitered corners.
I've created an mline style to represent a regular interior stud wall partition;
offsets 2.25, 1.75, 0 -1.75 and -2.25 to represent 3-1/2" studs and 1/2" drywall
each side. If I draw one mline then another (not a continuation of the first)
perpendicular to it, the MLEDIT dialog offers a mitered corner option which
intuition tells me should form a miter of all five lines.
Doesn't happen reliably.
Do mlines submitted for the MLEDIT options have to have the same
"justification"? in order to miter properly? If I break an mline using the
mledit break-all tool, the two parts still act as one; a miter command will drop
the other section as well in making the miter:
                 cont. mline broken here
______________ __________
______________ __________
                              | |
                              | |
                              | |
MLEDIT corner or miter option produces:
________________
_______________ | remaining section
                             | | of cont. mline is
                             | | deleted
Evidently what's happening is the broken mline is still considered a signular
object in the database as opposed to a pline, when broken, becomes two separate
entities.
Second dumb question .....
When editing an mline style, I select save in the mlstyle dialog but the changes
aren't saved the name of the style. If I try to add the same name, Acad returns
invalid name since the name already exists.
Now the most bizarre thing is if I edit the mline properties, save, and then try
to "Load" the mline style I just edited, the Load Multiline Styles dialog tells
me it's invlalid as well.
So I open the .mln file in the drawing directory and look what I find! Every
time I edited the mline style the changes were saved to the file appended onto
the end.
I'm afraid I don't quite understand the process here. I've included the contents
of a single mline style definition as written by the mlstyle dialog. When I
select "Load"in the mlstyle dialog after defining this, I get "Invalid style".
I've all but given up on this mline thing.

You're asking if it's possible to have the selection window lie parallel to the
xy plane.
Not to my knowlege. Nor is this really something that would be "defined" when
working in 3D. A selection window is presumed (I guess) to extend to infinity in
both the positive and negative Z axis. Picking a window in a non-orthogonal
plane (to the screen) might be possible but I think it would cause more
confusion than any selection options it might provide.
Just my opinion.

work off of period.

Not a mine site but similar complexity in a complete 3D model of a steel
structure. The answer is layer management to limit the amount of data being
displayed at any given time.

Nope, I'll pass on that one.

Not true. I've done it on a Pentium 133/64Mb. Granted I'm currently working on a
200MhzP-Pro with 128Mb of RAM, the machine itself wasn't *that* expensive. Don't
forget that to upgrade a workstation doesn't require buying a complete system.
All we're really talking about here is the box. These can be had for a couple
thousand (US) dollars.

I can understand the overriding principle that the application *must* be present
in order to perform any editing on the object. Otherwise, the converse would be
true as well - we send a drawing to a consultant for the addition of
information. They for one reason or another end up moving a door or column or
hole location in a piece of plate. We get the drawing back, load their work and
the thing goes bananas on us. It's best not to let the other party have access
to editing functions with respect to *our* data. That also serves to add a
degree of security to the drawing as well.
Where it's a royal pain is not to be able to even _recognize_ the geometry of
the object outside the application. I have no problem with the HVAC guy running
an app that draws in her mechanical units, ductwork, pipining and the like that
I can't move, erase or otherwise modify. But I'd sure dislike not being able to
dimension off of it or in some manner locate *my* work in relation to it.
I haven't seen anything of the Mechanical Desktop since it was first introduced
.. perhaps they've "fixed" this. In the event that they haven't, let's hope it
dies a swift death at least in its current form.

I suspect that you may not be selecting the polyline as the object being
submitted to the AREA command. When you select it, is the polyline highlighted
indicating that you indeed did select it and not the GIF image?
Try putting the GIF image on another layer and freeze it, isolating the polyline
making it easier to select.

Hehe, men and women aren't treated much different in that respect. Once

Ever since I upgraded from R12 running under SunOS 4.1.3 to R13

I have both a SummaSketch Plus and a SummaSketch II. Neither work

Try checking the MAXSORT system variable, it determines the maximum size of a
sorted list and can affect various dialogue boxes, usually File Open. It is
set by default to 200, if you have more than 200 layers! then this is probably
the reason. Set it to a bigger value.

I too have encountered a similar situation - deciding to use a TTF for
a "table" of data that was 8 columns by 40 rows. Could have (should
have) gone for coffee. But AutoCad did finally come back from it's nap
(something like five minutes later). I at first thought it had to do
with my older processor. Now I just don't use TTF unles I absolutely
have to.

Autodesk Plans on eliminating all forms of text except for
MTEXT (e.g., no regular single-line TEXT/DTEXT, and block
insertion attributes will also be MTEXT as well).
Well, I've seen them make bigger blunders...
They call it MTEXT, I just call it TEXT from hell.

I've sent you a note that I use this printer all day long. It's fast
and color. I run Autocad R13c4 -NT 3.51. The only problem that I
have is there are NO NT drivers for it. I have to use the BL230
drivers to get the 11x17 capabilities (no color available). There are
good drivers for '95, 3.1 and OS2. Spend your money, it won't be
wasted.

Thanks Stu. I've set all my pens to colour 7 (as suggested by

guess it doesn't matter whether the plotter is set to colour or

Subject: DIRECT PLOTTING W/ R13C4 WIN95, TO ANY HP DEVICE
From: "MODES"
Date: Mon, 18 Nov 1996 13:51:33 GMT
To anyone who may have figured this one out,
My configuration is as follows R13c4 under win 95 /Novell 4.10 NOS
using HP650C, HP600, HPLJ4, HPLJ5P, HPLJ5L, CANNON BJ-230
all attached to server(s) via direct net and parallel print servers. All
devices are properly set-up in WIN 95 and R13. The only device I can print
directly to without R13 locking up is the CANNON by making it WIN 95
default and R13 "system printer" using Control Panel defaults and my ped
table settings. "Great, no problem", but, R13 locks up if I attempt to
send print data to any other device. These as mentioned are all configured
and function properly (if I NPRINT .plt files), but R13 hangs when you
click ok or hit enter. I have read an article by George Head in Aug. 96
CADENCE and aparently he finds that he's screwed also. My question then is
why can I use a non HP driver and configuration setting with full
functionality w/ R13 Win95 and Novell 4.10 and not with any HP stuff (using
HP hardware too).
It tends to frustrate you then so called "EXPERTS" as well as hardware
manufacturers don't know. I have come up with many self help fixes and
gotten advice from other lowly Sys Admin.'s and will use any helpful
advice I recieve. Post and Re. in this group or E-mail me at
