Did you have any Autocad crashes lately? When Autocad crashes either an Autocad lock or maybe a lock for an application still exists, and if you try to load it again, you get the error message. Look for .mxk, .mnk or maybe an application specific lock. If you have an Autocad without HW lock you should also check the validity of your .pwd file. Hope this helps, MortenwReturn to Top

Hi, I know that ABUS can load ACAD r12 files in it's own internal editor (version 10). I need to know if it will accept DWGs with XREF's in them? It does not sem to work. Also, ABUs DWG editor does not accept my title blocks - inserted from a file as a block with attributes on them. I don't know if these are real problems, or were they caused by the step-up from ABUS 6.1 to 10 ???? I ran the Lisp scripts in ACAD, and I know they change the DWGs somehow, but I don't think that is the problem with the XREFs...... is it ?? Tx in advance BTW, the XREF prob. is more trouble than my Title Blocks...... Declan C.Return to Top

Try adding the line "PageOverCommit=5" in the 386 enhanced section of your system.ini file. I tried it and now my autocad works a treat, no problems at all. Good luck, DougReturn to Top

Here is what I did to make it work at our site: 1. Start up ESP Configuration. 2. Select 2 to update, or 1 to add a new plotter. 3. Select the plotter you want to update, or add the new plotter, and then select update. 4. Select 13.Pen settings, and you will see a menu consisting of 8 pens. These are the pens you have to configure to get your pen weights, and color(Pen 1 through 8 map to AutoCAD colors 1 through 8). Pens who are going to plot in black, have to be given a color of 7.( 1 iis RED and so on) The way of using RPens and HPGL2.CFG(look in Appendix C in the manuals for a brief description of this file) does not work, at least not at our site. I recently bought an Apple Color Printer. 360 dpi, true CMYK (C,M,Y,K ink carts), and accepts 11"x17" paper. I'm running this machine from a Macintosh Quadra 660AV 44/230 2xCDi and System 7.5.1. Monitor is AppleVision 17". The orginal Apple v1.0 driver bombs every time I try to make 11x17 output. Since this printer is a relabeled Canon BJC-820, I tried the Canon BJC-820 driver. It works very nicely. But I am having one heck of a time getting anything close to WYSIWYG correlation between screen colors and printer output for images like JPEG or GIF.I have installed Color Sync 2.0, but wonder if I'm doing something wrong. Greens and yellows, in particular, are very much darker on plain paper than on the screen, and noticeable banding also occurs. DWG lines and hatching patterns come out just fine in R12.14 for Mac. Does anyone have any suggestions? Even if you are running Wintel versions, any suggestions will be appreciated. chris_matzen@dbug.org <--- please also reply to <----Return to Top
My Epson Action Laser is on its fourth ream of paper and the drum unit is shot. A new replacement (my only option) costs from $180 to $240 depending on who I call. It's warranted for 30,000 copies or 18 months. The printer is almost four years old. I called Espon America customer support and suggested a drum unit should last for more than 2,000 copies no matter how old it is. I was told that the drum is made of organic material and is only good for 18 months OR 30,000 copies. The lady told me the drum material is like tires, whether you drive on them or not they still have a life cycle. What would anyone do if they bought a set of 60,000 mile tires and after 4,000 miles the rubber fell off, regardless of age? Assume of course they are properly maintained, driven once in a while, and kept in a heated garage when not in use. Epson stood by their policy. There was no acknowledgment of a faulty product, no offer of a discounted replacement drum. In fact I was told I was lucky to get four years out of the thing, even though the power was off the majority of the time. So, beware of Epson products. Think before you buy. I am cutting my losses and have already bought a bright shiny new Hewlett Packard. I will NEVER BUY ESPON again!!!! P.S.
