Has anyone come across any good self training materials (books, tutorials, videos, CD) for Autocad LT win95. Thanks in advance DaveReturn to Top
It is time to upgrade to a new machine, as My 486 is just not cutting it here anymore. Drawing sizes are slowly creeping up in size. We don't require any 3-D so it need not be at the cutting edge. Here is my specs so far. Please feel free to comment... pentium 166 32 or 64 megs Ram 2 Gig+ hard drive Matrox Millennium 2mb 8X CDrom 33.68 modem (I am sending this on a 2400 off a mac SE) 17" monitor (.26dp or .28 dp) Am I headed in the right direction or should I be looking for a dual proccessor pentium pro and running window NT (a scary thought from my prospective) TIA David LReturn to Top
We are in the process of evaluating high output black and white plotters. We expect to purchase one or two HP 755CM inkjet plotters for high quality color. We need a fully networkable high speed monochrome plotter as well. Upwards of 100 users will have access. We are currently using two old HP 7600 240E electrostatic plotters and they are just about to die. Anyone care to recommend, based on experience, service, support etc., their dream plotter? Thanks in advance, Dave McCartney dmccartney@stantech.comReturn to Top

It's kind of strange how CadOverlay ESP works. You run an external configuration program to configure ESP which includes part of the plotter config. Then you launch Autocad and CadOverlay and then setup Autocad to use the Autocad File Output for a Binary Plotter file. You have to configure for raster and vector objects on the drawing by mapping the pens in the pen settings area in the plot dialoge box. I also have to run a CadOverlay command called RPENS to do more pen mapping. It's really confusing to set this up. I can't use the deskjet/paintjet option for the Calcomp because the Calcomp is an E-size Electrostatic plotter. I have to use the configuration for HP's 7600E plotter. After the crash, Autocad will save your > drawing before exiting An unhandled exception sometimes means that there is a driver conflict of some sort. I have seen that message running Autocad on Windows 3.1x. Most of the time it has been a Windows diplay driver causing the problem, the fix was to use an updated or different Windows display driver. I have also seen cases where the font used on the Autocad welcome screen, you know the one with the logo and the text telling you what platform you are on and who it is registered too, is using a text font that for some reason Autocad or the display driver doesn't like. If you go to the preferences d-box you can change that font. I have also seen this message while loading a drawing into Autocad, if other drawings load fine then it means that the one drawing may be corrupted. Unfortunatly the recover command has not been succesful in recovering the drawing nor has trying to insert the problen drawing into a new blank drawing. -- Catch ya later! DonReturn to Top

I can't believe, that only one year later I have to upgrade to P200/128MB just to be up to date. What I really want is 3D and that may take a few more years, the way things are going. I have a vision of 3D steel structures shaded Xref'd and 3D piping with interactive DataBase running in the background... Maybe I'm just a dreamer? But I'm very pleased to see that you are up to scratch with all modern schnick-schnack. I don't know why I still bothered with floppies. It was quite clear, that crap was on the way out. Only hope now, AutoCAD isn't. Regards, Manfred Houzer 12 Alabaster Tce. Hillarys WA 6025 AustraliaReturn to Top

I'm not running 13, but I seem to recall that Autodesk put all 3 versions (DOS, Win3.x, WinNT) on their CD. USE the NT Version!! (Duh!) I run Ver 12 for Win3.x on my new NT 4.0 box. Runs just fine. (famous last wordsReturn to Top) NT doesn't mind DOS programs (usually), but it DOESN'T like DOS extenders. >Davidson Highfill >Student Extrodinare Doesn't seem to be the case.
