My laserjet HP IIP (2P) died a few weeks ago so I replaced it with HP 6P printer. Well yes the 8ppm and 600 dpi are nice, but I can't get it to print lines as solid. They are dithered. I did not have this problem with the HP IIP. Yes I know about the dither command. That makes no difference. Only the white lines (I use a black background screen setting) print solid. This was solved by setting the pens all to 7 (the white or black pen) I got this idea from S. Yoder in Article: 54452 (jan 2, 1997). ThanksReturn to Top

Well, you can avoid working with PS if you do like this: 1. Build your model as usual 2. With VPOINT, display top, front, axonometric, etc view 3. For each view, create a local coordinate system: UCS View 4. Block the model, and OOPS 5. Repeat 2-4 for each desired view 6. Return to UCS World 7. INSERT the blocks 8. Hi, I have a project which requires us to take Autocad DXF line diagram files and then import them into our programme. This works fine, except, the symbols which the DWG file refers to in an SHX file simply appear as symbol numbers in the DXF file. As a consequence when we display the DXF file there are big gaps where the symbol should be. What I would like to do is leave the symbol numbers in the DXF file, but be able to read the relevant symbol draw information from another "Symbol DXF" file. So, can you convert an SHP or SHX file into a DXF file, whilst retaining the Symbol number references? Grateful for any help and your replies. Thanks, AndrewReturn to Top
Hi, For that size drawings more RAM is essential. I've had to upgrade from 64 MB to 128 MB ram to load drawings and xrefs half that size in a reasonable amount of time. I'm running a PPro 150 under NT3.51WS and 13c4a. I also noticed an improvement after re-installing NT after the memory upgrade (but I don't know why that should be needed, but the system runs "smoother.") I think I could have gotten away with total ram of 96MB as the "status" command indicates typically 60-70 MB used with my 9 MB drawings. It starts to swap when I get down to about 10MB free. Overall, 128 MB ram really made the system much nicer to use, and I think it's an economical upgrade considering the number of hours I spend in front of the computer. Your findings seem to corroborate the results produced by CADMark, which suggests that WHIP is the slowest. More than one person I've spoken to on this says that the WHIP driver was specifically "tweaked" to get good results on the brain- dead CADalyst benchmark. You can certainly incorporate these kinds of elements in your Mechanical Desktop models, but you'll have to create them in AutoCAD's native solid modeler, since Desktop can't "fillet" two cylinders to each other. Guessing, I would say that you could use sweep features. Since sweep profiles are currently limited to planar geometry, wires that are bent in more than one plane will require using multiple sweeps (each constrained to the previous). Hi, I've a problem with my Acad (13c4) for WinNT 3.51. If I open it by double-clicking on the symbol it comes up and I can draw in a new drawing. If I then want to open another existing drawing, by using the open command, Acad asks the name of the drawing, clears the screen, beeps one time and _crashes_. I can not find the reason for this. I installed it once again, because I thought this could help, but it didn't. I checked the filesystem, if some files in the acad-area are write-protected, there aren't any. It produces some dump-file, but I don't learn something from this file. Does anybody know where the problem can come from? thanks in advance HeikoReturn to Top

How 'bout "AutoSketch" (by AutoDesk)? I've never used it, but it might be worth investigating. The price is approx. $150, as opposed to $425 - $500 for AtoCAD LT. Hi, I've installed R13c4a on NT4.0 the same as I've done in Win95. When I try to do multiple sessions of Acad, the menu starts to bug. I mean, all is ok with the first 3 sessions opened. But starting with the fourth one and so on, the menu (always the same loaded) changes. The icon are displaced to other position and when I click on them, it's not the expected functions that are started. Example, in the fourth session, clicking on the "zoom window" icon actually activates the file utilities window. Some toolbars are working well and others don't. Someone have an idea on that. In Win95, I used to work with 4 to 7 sessions at the same time. I don't know why now it isn't possible. ThanksReturn to Top

Also make sure you > download the latest from calcomp; My problem is re-entering lisp with > the tablet menus. Any ideas? I installed Calcomp DrawingBoard III on NT4.0. Actually, be sure to do the following: - download the latest driver for NT3.51 - install your new driver with the "control panel - add/remove program" utility. - start the calcomp tablet manager and remove all the button assignment in the tablet area (there's a mouse area and a tablet area). So you have to assign all the buttons to NONE in the tablet area. - close the tab manager and it's supposed to be ok after that. For me it worked. Now, my impressions. All my excuses but tablets suck. I worked with calcomp tablet 2 years under DOS and it was very good but now, with Acad Windows and all the icon on the screen there's no need for an expensive tablet. What you need is a good mouse (I use Logitech 3-buttons). It's faster and easier and cheaper and funnier to use than the shit tablets with their shit buttons always sticked or difficult to push and the shit mouse sticking on the board due to dirt from your hand when you perspire a bit... You do what you want but now you know that a old user of calcomp tablets is actually selling them and replacing them for mouses. Hope this helps, Regards, Robin BelleyReturn to Top

This is important as Autocad overwrites the acad.mns , .mnr and .mnc files whenever you load the acad.mnu file. G.Rajesh //Autodesk Product Support on the Internet//
