More than that. As far as I know MMX represents only multimedia
instructions added to a ordinary Pentium.A similar try was made in mid
1996 by NexGen (owned now by AMD)and the processor in cause was (Byte
mag. oppinion) faster than a Pentium same clock.Let's wait and see...

Try to upgrade to the last R13 available (c4).Also try to work with the
latest video/mouse/printer drivers.I've had a big problem (Unhandled
error) with my R13c3 but after I've donloaded an BIOS upgrade for my
motherboard and the latest Canon printer driver it stopped.
Good luck!

First:
I would like to apologize for the crossposting. I feel that this is
relevant to all cad software packages.
Second:
How about someone starting an comp.cad.advocacy news group? I have seen
alot of posts saying SolidWorks this Pro/E that, Ideas this SolidWorks
that. I beleived that the original intent of the
comp.cad.mysoftwarepackage was for assistance in questions and answers.
Its seem mostly overrun with bad mouthing. So, how about one of those
readers that have the most to say about the products start the advocacy
newsgroup up?

Win95 and Phalap's DOS extender are conflicting. So the only way around
(as far as I know) is to quit Win95 to dos mode and the launch AutoCAD.
Anyway I've tried myself to make R12 DOS to run within Win95.No result
so far.

From: George Todd

Does anyone know why AutocadLT for win 95 sometimes fails to see the
intersection of two lines (same "z" elev.)? It will return "invalid
point". The lines are visible, I know they are continuous lines and yet
the program says they are not intersecting. Frustration to the max!

Read the VLM documentation, as in, LASTDRIVE=Z in config.sys and
the 'first network drive=' setting in net.cfg.
If it doesn't work show me your config.sys, autoexec.bat and net.cfg

I found a Lisp routine a few years ago called 'THICK' which allows
you to change the line weight both on-screen and for plotting. You
just invoke the thickness lisp, select the entities you wish to change
and then specify the width you'd like the line to be. Its only
drawback is it won't thicken a full circle. You must break the line
slightly before using it.

Hello,
I'm having a problem with my digitizer and Autocad LT. I'm not able to
get it working. I have a 1212 Trust digitizer connected on com port 2.
Windows 95 is setup and working with the digitizer. I can use it as a
absolut or relative mouse. There is even a new icon in my configuration
window. I have disconneted my mouse and removed all drivers.
But when I start up Autocad LT and go to preferences I am not able to
click on the setting for tablet mode.
Who has any idea how to solve this problem.

Subject: AutoLISP: How to make AutoCAD know after using ENTMOD to change a LAYER property ?
From: xzhu@whale.st.usm.edu (Xiang Zhu)
Date: Wed, 15 Jan 1997 05:30:52 GMT
I try to change a layer property without calling COMMAND function
inside a lisp routine.
With r13 I can use ENTMOD to do it, but after doing that, the screen
doesn't reflect what has been changed until I pick one of these layer
control like Layer Pulldown Control.
I guess this is related to something like the "Reactor" of ARX, but
don't know how to implement it within Lisp.
I will appreciate any help on this matter.

Since the inital release of R12 the rectange command has been in the
acad.mnl file. This file is loaded every time the acad.mnu is loaded.
Find out if the machines w/o the "rectangle" command are using a menu file
other than acad.mnu. If so copy the acad.mnl file to xxx.mnl. (replace xxx
with the custom menu name)
Hope this helps,

Set the DWGWRITE variable inside AutoCAD to 1. This will enable you to
write the drawings .
You can also set this variable inside Acad.lsp so that you need not set it

Subject: Which way is best for 3d to 2D in Paper Space...
From: adrianjl@aol.com (AdrianJL)

I wanted to get some feedback from those of you that draw you 3D model and
then get your 2D views in Paper Space... which is the best method of
getting your 2D views, what are the pros and cons and which method do you
use....
1) In Paper Space create your viewports and use SOLPROF (c4) to create
profiles of the model and then dimension the profiles in model space,
or...
2) In Paper Space create your viewports and setup to get your appropriate
views, and then dimension the 3D model in Model Space directly, without
using a profile created with SOLPROF, or...
3) Do you do it different and get better results?
Please send me any feedback that you may have, which do you think is best
and why???
Thanks,

Allan,
You can do this in AutoCAD R13 c4. To do this first create a helical
path using the SPIRAL.LSP that comes along with the R12. Then
draw a circle at he starting point of the path perpendicular to that of
the entity.
Now use the EXTRUDE command and use the Path option to select the
helical coil as Path and the circle at the end as object to be extruded.
You got the spring. :)

Type the DDIM command.
Click on the Annotation button.
Click on the UNITS button at the Primary units section.
Now select the Archtectural at the UNITS section and
also set the Precision.
Now give OK to all the dialog boxes till you come to the first one.
Now Click on the SAVE button .
Now Click on the OK button.
Now you can see all your dimensions get updated automatically. :)

This sounds pretty reasonable. If I understand correctly, various people
could actually have parts of this on their web pages, and they would
be linked to the index?

I can see it all now:  A FAQ for writting the FAQ.  %-}
I don't have a graphics interface on the net, so if you guys want to
come up with some format, I don't have to know what it is or how it
looks. I can just get a copy of the format and put my miserable
contribution in that format, right?

How about links back to the Autodesk pages where they have some
answers to some of the tech questions? This might require their
cooperation....

I can host a bit. My provider has given me up to a Meg (or was it 2?)
for web space. That won't handle heavy graphics (we should have *some*
good graphics, sometimes, for illustrating, don't you think?), but it
can sure handle quite a bit of text.
Do not underestimate your abilities. That is your boss's job.
It is your job to find ways around your boss's roadblocks.

you need to add on a after market enhanced serial port to your computer
there in not enough voltage going through the existing or on board serial
port to make the lock operable. then it will work nicely. You must have an
educational copy?

The best way is to have the distance as 1.5 times that of the text
height , so that you can have a better readability.

You must use the Autospool method as you have NT network. Follow the

To run R12 dos under Windows 95 you must have R12c2 or after. I belive
you have a older version. Please download the relevant patch or contact
the dealer for a media replacement.

Philip , :)
You can plot from NT using only the SYSTEM PRINTER option or
the AUTOSPOOL method.

This is inside the ACAD.MNL file and this gets loaded automatically.
I believe that you must be using some other menu or deleted the
Acad.mnl file as all the *.mnl files gets loaded only with the relevent
*.mnu files. So check this first.

You can do this. But need to write a lisp routine to maintain this .
There are some similar programs available in the shareware sites mentioned

Everton,
AutoCAD R12 was not tested on this O/S as it was not available at its
launch. So you may be in a untested waters. Please try to upgrade R12 to
R13c4a as this is officially tested.
