That seems to be the only documentation available...although it appears to be
similar to their fullblown Autocad version which has better documentation - too
bad I don't have it :-P
I'm not sure how to tell my partner that I may have to buy AutoCad so that I
can dimension drawings created in Survey Complete ! First I better see what
SoftDesk has to say for itself.

EXCELLENT advice! Now all we need is the discipline to follow through! I
agree with the list with one major exception! The first listing should, in
my opinion, be a glossary of surveying and mapping terms.
Also, I find that Brinker and Wolf's book is more practical than the
CURRENT version of Davis Foote, et.al.'s.
Sincerely,
Dave Wahlström

The Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) GPS network
managed by the National Geodetic Survey (NGS), NOAA, is operating in
an experimental mode and will continue to do so until the network is
declared fully operational in 1996. Full CORS integrity monitoring
has not been implemented by NGS at this time. NGS will do its best to
ensure the reliability of this service in the interim but, because of
this status, users of the CORS data should be aware that NGS cannot
ensure:
1. That all current sites will be operational at all times or will be
    kept as part of the final network configuration;
2. That all GPS data, positional information, utility software, or
ancillary information which has been posted is 100 percent correct
    and without error; and
3. That any additional proposed sites that are added in the future
will remain operational or will be kept as part of the network.

Try going to my homepage
http://smultron.com
and then to
http://smultron.com/source
to download survey.zip
It is an excellent shareware program (in my opinion) that will run in
minimal hardware.

Subject: Who uses low res. low cost measurement instrument
From: Edward French <101332.656@compuserve.com>
Date: Mon, 16 Dec 1996 17:17:41 +0000
As part of a project at Bradford University, a product was developed
that allows non-contact low cost low accuracy 3 dimensional position
measurement using a laser beam. Accuracy is +/- 3mm within 4m.
It works beautifully for it's intended research activity. But we would
like to know if anyone would find a use for this in a more general
application ?

Subject: Engineer wanted with CAD and Cladding exp
From: "rts"
Date: 16 Dec 1996 20:12:04 GMT
Hello All,
We are based in Derby and looking for a CAD Designer/Draughter with
experience of Curtain Walling and/or knowledge of Cladding.
Alternatively, an Architectural or Mechanical Engineering background
with the aptitude to learn new skills could prove just as useful.
The work entails the detailed design and production of Construction
and Manufacturing drawings utilising survey data from a 7 storey
building.
Please note, there could be two positions available ONE of which
could provide training to the right, inexperienced but highly
motivated, individual.
One of these positions may require immediate availability whilst the
other is due to commence mid January.
Please reply to rts@enterprise.net
We look forward to hearing from you,
Pal

Subject: Kickback Fees!
From: surv951@aol.com (Surv951)
Date: 16 Dec 1996 23:22:09 GMT
I am astonished!!
Within the last 2 years, I have been contacted by several
mortgage companies and at least one appraiser, that has shown
interest in retaining my survey company, only if I pay them for
a "referral" fee.
The fee asked for is approximately 10%-15% of the total
survey charge.
Call it a referral fee if you must -
     I call it a KICKBACK.
have any of you in this newsgroup, heard of this? or do you
participate in the referral fee.
Each time I have adamantly refused to participate, I believe
this is un-ethical and un-professional, and have so stated. Each
time the companies that are inquiring, says it is quite common
industry wide!!
     What's you take on this.
Thanks, Wayne

Dear Jerry:
Allen-Osborne is a reputable company and their products I've seen do
work. I haven't seen the Rascal yet so I don't have any comment. (I am
just a little prejudiced though, Trimble is my choice, ha ha :-)
Best wishes,
Tony
