I have to interject, sorry. Even though I agree with both sides in my own
way, I just have to say that your argument here is very weak. How could
you repent when you're dead? The very nature of dead is not-alive. In
order to speak or to think, you must be alive, because thought is life.
So you can't even think in order to confess once you're dead. But that
doesn't mean you won't exist eternally, in relation to how you lived your
life.

Subject: Announcing: Upgrade to GCMD
From: Ron Vogel
Date: Thu, 24 Oct 1996 17:24:57 -0400
Announcing:
The Release of the Newly Upgraded Global Change Master Directory
----------------------------------------------------------------
The Global Change Master Directory (GCMD) is an online source of
information about satellite and in situ Earth science data, with coverage
of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and solid Earth. Scientific
researchers as well as the public may use the GCMD to find out how to
obtain environmental data from data providers around the world.
http://gcmd.gsfc.nasa.gov
New features of the Upgrade:
---------------------------
* New home page allows easier navigation through the GCMD webspace
* New fields of information allow users to make a more informed
decision about the usefulness of a dataset
* Free-text searches may be performed on the full text of documents
   or limited to individual fields
* Improved parameter keyword hierarchy and expanded keywords increase
   the specificity of searches
* New writing tools simplify the submission of new dataset descriptions
As always, the GCMD features:
----------------------------
* A growing number of dataset descriptions (currently over 3500)
from a growing number of research centers, universities, government
agencies, and international programs (currently over 650)
*  Both controlled-vocabulary searches and free-text searches
* Hypertext links within dataset descriptions, simplifying the data
   access process
* Background information on instruments, satellites, research
   campaigns, and data centers
* Links to other providers of Earth science information, as well as
links to NASA's Earth Observing System projects and data centers (DAACs)
The GCMD is a free service, funded by NASA in an effort to provide
scientists and the public with access to environmental data around the
world.
If you would like your dataset described in the GCMD, see the online
description authoring form: http://gcmd.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/difweb

Actually all the water from previous ages may still be stored in the
permafrost
and could be released if you could heat the planet enough. I think there
are some
people at NASA working on these types of problems.

Comments from Jerry. The dead do not know that they are dead. They live
within the memory of themeselves in the world of yesterday across the
space time barrier. They do not think fresh thought but remain within
themselves reviewing their lives. They feel with remembered feelings as
well. Thus the dead do exist in a mind lock loop.It is a sad state
of existence.
The very nature of dead is not-alive. In
> order to speak or to think, you must be alive, because thought is life.
Comments from Jerry: In the initial state of death you stand alone. If
you enter the Kingdom of Heaven you will be able to speak. The energy
of God and God's time clock takes you from the solitary existence to
a state where you react with others. This process is the same in the
various Kingdoms of Heaven or the pit of hell. The self becomes part
of the collective as the memory of you becomes the memory of all.
> So you can't even think in order to confess once you're dead. But that
> doesn't mean you won't exist eternally, in relation to how you lived your
> life.
> Comments from Jerry: In the world of the dead you will be able tocommunicate with loved ones who will reappear out of collective memory.
Thus those entering the highest Kingdoms will see loved ones again. The
period of existence outside of the collective in general is small.New
arrivals will see their loved ones and then all will return to the
collective state. You will be able to see your mother and father, your
children, your wife and others.
However, those who enter the pit of hell are collectived rather
rapidly and the entire intelligence of the group is reduced to that
less than a single worm. Thus hell does not afford many benefits
although it is a blessing as compared to self isolation.Prior to Jesus
hell was hell. But Jesus cleaned up the process and no one is tortured
in hell. It is a quick merciful end. So fast that few even realize that
their space time soul is being discharged rapidly into nothingness.

> Yes, and long live the non-existence of god as well!

God and are saved after they are dead. There are the elite of God such
as astronomers who serve God daily in their work. They are necessary for
the salvation of all upon the new Earth as per Isaiah.

You continue to post this announcement, for which I am partially
apprecative. Hoevever, your web site, the last I looked has no TELEPHONE
number or other method save USMail for ordering the documentation. Go
figure, web site, usenet, and then crippled document acquisition. How
about at least posting the PRICE and TAX and such so that TWO mailings are
not required!

Subject: Attack on public access to Landsat
From: THE PERSONS REAL NAME
Date: Thu, 24 Oct 1996 21:27:39 +0000
Dear Colleagues,
Please stop the "Space Commercialization Promotion Act of 1996". This
is another multi-million dollar loss for American science and education
where:
1. the public buys the satellite (e.g. Landsat),
2. NASA gives away the satellite to one company because it is "too
expensive" to distribute the data,
3. the company sells the data to the public at exorbitant prices,
4. NASA finds plenty of money to build yet another satellite.
The initial EOSAT monopoly was a failure. They simply dropped the MSS
transmissions that are crucial to global change studies when they were
no longer commercially viable. They failed to capitalize Landsat-7.
Worse, after 22 years of monopolized remote sensing it is still an
exclusive industry that locks out small businesses.
Education and research also suffer from the government funded monopoly
on earth surface process satellite data. Data for the surface of Mars
are free. Data for Earth's atmosphere are free. However, most of us
live on the Earth's surface. Why are publicly funded satellite data for
our own planet's surface so expensive?
Whereas the Land Remote Sensing Act of 1992 opened the door to free
public access to NASA satellite data, the current industry monopoly has
succeeded in pushing a major ammendment ("Space Commercialization
Promotion Act of 1996") through the U.S. House of Representatives that
would prohibit NASA from distributing free satellite data for Earth! We
can stop it in the Senate and in the White House with your help.
Please help us stop the "commercialization" of publicly funded
satellites now. Low cost data would promote wide application of space
technology and lower the entry costs for users and small businesses.
How can one start a remote sensing industry in the face of a monopoly on
raw material?
Please protest the act your senator at
http://www.senate.gov
and the president, vice president, and first lady at
president@whitehouse.gov
vice.president@whitehouse.gov
first.lady@whitehouse.gov
Please forward this message.

I am sorry for not catching that. I do have a lot of humor. Otherwise I would go

laughter. My family needs a lot of humor too to put up with me. Some of the comments

This is simply wrong.
Increasing the rotation rate would "decrease" the G force not increase it.

Well, to be really, really pedantic changing the rotation wouldn't affect
the gravity at all.

Nope. G is determined by measuring the attractive force between two bodies
of known mass. The person who first did it (can't remember their name just
now) used a mountain (in Scotland??) as one mass. This particular mountain
had a nice conical shape which made its mass easier to estimate.
Once you've calculated G it's then trivial to calculate the mass of the
Earth.

For nearly twenty years people have been *directly measuring*
plate motions with 1 cm/year accuracy, first by comparing pulsar
timings at multiple sites and later with GPS data. Plates move.
The Earth is not expanding. End of story. Sheesh.

Speaking as a Catholic boy raised in the midwest (US), I can tell you
that the Church never once pushed for creationism of any kind. We were
taught (and this is 25 years ago) that the stories in the Bible were
allegorical and designed purely as teaching stories; fables, if you
like.
We were taught religion right after we went to science class and
learned about dinosaurs. None of us thought it was all that odd or
that sprirituality was antithetical to science.
