Looking for Mathcad and/or S-Plus users
"R. Pierce Reid"
Wed, 29 Jan 1997 09:38:47 -0800
Folks:
MathSoft, creator of Mathcad and S-Plus, is currently looking to talk to
professionals or members of the academic community who use either
Mathcad or S-Plus in real-world applications ranging from engineering to
applied research, from academia to the commercial laboratory.
If you are using Mathcad or S-Plus on a regular basis for any
application, we would like to hear from you. We are especially
interested in Mathcad and S-Plus users who are involved in activities
that have an impact on the general public in areas such as medical
research, the environment, product or civil engineering, space research,
finance, clinical trials, etc. But we would like to hear from a broad
cross section of users regardless.
Anyone who would be willing to talk about your project and how it
involves Mathcad or S-Plus is asked to send a brief e-mail to
ALLSTARS@schwartz-pr.com. Please include a brief description of how you
use Mathcad or S-Plus as well as your name and a daytime phone number
and/or e-mail address where you would prefer to be contacted.
Thank you for your time and help and especially thank you for allowing
us to contact you via your Newsgroup. We look forward to hearing from
you and I apologize for any inconvenience.

If you are trying to locate objects on or below the seabed, then can I
suggest you get in touch with WESMAR SONAR in Woodinville,
Washington,U.S.A., they are at sonar@wesmar.com, talk to bob bushey.
They make side scans, target hunting, fishing, and military
sonars(underwater radar). the side scan can be recorded to audio tape
for playback, or to a paper recorder.
hope this helps

This is not an official announcement, just a friendly heads-up:
A little birdy told me that the deadline for receipt of abstracts for Oceans
'97 has been extended until mid-February. If you are interested, go to
http://www.sirius.ns.ca/oceans97 (sometimes flaky)
http://www.ieee.org/conference/conflinks.html
relavant email addresses include
publications@sirius.ns.ca
student@sirius.ns.ca
If desperate, one could also phone IEEE at (800) 810-4333 (within USA) or
                                           (908) 562-5598 (outside USA)
I am posting this as a favour, and I am not on the Committee. Any queries
would be better posed to them.

I am a bit puzzled by the ``non-refundable'' deposit to be sent with the
abstracts. It is my understanding that if your abstract is not accepted,
it will be refunded, although this is not stated in the call for papers.
Yet, if I can understand that the organizers want to avoid no-shows by a
deposit to be deduced from the registration, I don't like very much the
implications of abstracts being examined to the light of a pre-payment.
Anyone know why the deposit is not asked AFTER abstract acceptance, for
inclusion in the final program and proceedings ?
