Measuring gases from composting

Portable Compost/Soil /Landfill Gas Monitor
New portable battery operated gas monitor simultaneously measures O2,
CO2 and CH4 gases evolving from compost, soil or landfill. It is
equipped with its own air sampling pump, pressure monitor for both ambient
and deferential pressures, thermistor temperature meter and on board data
logger. It utilizes infrared gas analyzers for measuring CO2 and CH4 and
electrochemical fuel cell for O2 measurements.
It can measure O2 concentration in the range 0 to 25%, CO2 in the range 0
to 100% and CH4 in the range 0-100%. Gas analyzer s response time is
approximately 30 sec.
If you need such measurements ,drop me a note with your address and I
will mail you more information.

NEW "DINOSAUR TRACKS IN COAL MINES" WEBSITE
          ***Apologies for Cross-Posting***
***Please share with any interested parties or mailing lists***
You are invited to drop by the REPRINTS Web Site:
http://www.stadiumweb.com/Reprints/Introduction.html
This site contains a group of texts and text excerpts written by different
paleontologists concerning the phenomenon of natural casts of dinosaur
tracks found in the roofs of Utah coal mines.
I am an artist in New York, and I originally edited and compiled the 21
texts to accompany my 1991 sculpture project, the *Natural Copies from the
Coal Mines of Central Utah*, as photocopied handouts to the gallery
visitors. They are available on this website in both html versions and
downloadable Portable Document Format (PDF) versions, for anyone who might
want to use them for educational purposes. The sculpture project was done
in co-operation with the College of Eastern Utah Prehistoric Museum in
Price, Utah, and for those who may be interested in contemporary art,
information about the project is also available on the site.
Among the authors excerpted are:
John K. Balsley, Edwin H. Colbert, David D. Gilette, Adrian P. Hunt, Chet
Jennings, Martin G. Lockley, Lee R. Parker, William Peterson, Robert L.

Surface water currents
Paul McLeod
Fri, 24 Jan 1997 11:27:31 -0800
I am searching for surface water current data for use in oil spill
simulation modelling. I require
data for any major water bodies any where on earth, including major
lakes, seas and oceans
which include location, current direction and velocity. If anyone knows
where such data can be
obtained for free or very cheaply, I would appreciate the information.

Soliciting donations of sand for nature ctr exhibit
UQBL52A@prodigy.com (Rhea Tannenbaum)
25 Jan 1997 02:02:04 GMT
Hi! I'm being very brazen, but here goes. I am Exhibits Coordinator
at a nature center in southeast Florida. I'm in the process of
creating an exhibit on sands of the world. I just finished cataloging
our samples and have discovered that we're severely deficient in
samples from certain regions. I am looking (hoping) for donations of
sand from Central and South America, Asia, Africa, eastern Europe and
western Australia. Sands from any source (coastal, lacustrine,
riverine, glacial) are welcome.
If you have a sample or a collection which you would like to donate in
the furtherance of earth science education I would be grateful to
receive it. I'm afraid I cannot offer compensation or pay postage.
Please e-mail responses to me as I am already overwhelmed by checking
in at biology sites.

Where to find a current map showing distribution of acid rain in North America?
fab@direct.ca (Fabrice Grover)
Sat, 25 Jan 1997 07:32:17 GMT
Hi,
I am doing a project on acid rain for a high school Geography course.
One of the requirements is that I supply a map showing where we find
acid rain in North America. Does anybody know where I can find a
relatively up-to-date map containing this information? An online
resource would be ideal but any source available in libraries would
do. Please forward any replies to my email account (fab@direct.ca).
In the case of periodicals, journals, and other publications, specific
information regarding what issue to look for is particularly
appreciated.
Thanks for your help,
Fabrice Grover (fab@direct.ca)

Minimum Stream Power
"Michael Leismann"
25 Jan 1997 12:04:55 GMT
I am looking for someone who is experienced in the
"Minimum Stream Power Theory" from Chang and Yang.
I am working in river recreation in germany.
My problem is how to find out the original profil of the unaffected river.
This information is not available from the past at the river I am working
on.
Minimum stream power could be a usefull instument, I hope.
Has anyone some experiences ?
Does anyone know where the theory has been applied on?
Thanks, Michael Leismann

SEARCH SOFTWARE SIMULATING ENGINE (FORESTAL FIRES)
Jose Torres Torres
Sun, 26 Jan 1997 04:43:40 +0100
Hi, my name is José Torres Tores. I'm an agricultural engineer and now
I'm applying for an special project in the Balearic Islands.
I need any kind of information about simulating software existing for
simulate forestal fires. I know some experiences have been done in some
departmes of forestal sciences in the U.S., but don't know anything
else.
If you don't know this specific item, but know something in A.I.
applications (particullary cellular autommatas) I'd please very much
your help.
Please post replys to this mail
Thanks in advance.
