I don't know about the book, but I believe that Scientific American
had an article with such pictures several (10?) years ago or so.
Quite amazing.

Methinks you might be referring to Harold Edgerton.
http://mitpress.mit.edu/mitp/recent-books/art/edgerton.html
http://www.invent.org/book/book-text/37.html
Look up "Seeing the Unseen" (possibly the book you are referring to) on
http://www.amazon.com (a great online book store). Once you have looked up
that book you can look up others on Harold Edgerton and his high-speed
photography.
The PBS series "Nova" did a special on "Doc" Edgerton years ago. For some
reason I remember high-speed films of a rifle bullet slicing its way
through some gelatin. Or maybe that was something related to the Kennedy
assassination... very Freudian... ANYWAY....
I had a root canal not too long ago. Let's just say I don't think the use
of thermonuclear devices could make it any more painful. ;^)
Enjoy,
-k.

I have a copy of the book "Moments of Vision" by Harold E. Edgerton and James R Killian, Jr.
published by MIT Press and it has an id number EDGMP 0-262-55010-5. It includes five pictures
of the first milliseconds of an atomic explosion.
Harold Edgerton invented the strobe and sidescan sonar. He was a founder of EG&G; Corporation.

hi,
I know this might sound as a strange question but:
I'm a student of last year of high school in an italian scientific
school, I agree to use the nuclear power (as long as it is safe),
as you might know in Italy because of a law we cannot produce nuclear
power so we need to nuy energy from other states.
I want to know if there are good reason in donig this!!
