Subject: Free flight for your space exposure experiment
From: V.Michtchenko@terracom.nl (Valeri Michtchenko)
Date: Sat, 30 Nov 1996 12:06:22 GMT
Unique opportunity to fly your exposure experiment free on the Russian
Space Station MIR.
In the 3d quarter of 1997 PELICAN will make its maiden flight. As an
introduction to user's community the free flight to a limited number
of experiments will be provided.
To limit the number of the experiments to which the free flight will
be granted, the contest of requests is announced. The only minor costs
you will have to pay are: price of the P/L container, P/L integration
into the container, acceptance tests costs.
The PELICAN Complex is a space exposure facility allowing a very wide
range of controlled and passive experiments outside the space station.
It is described in
http://www.xxlink.nl/terracom/
More information on the announced contest and the printed PELICAN
Complex Experimenter's Guide are available on request.
Nowadays there is no other possibility to make a mid-to-long duration
controlled and retrievable experiment in orbit. And there will be no
one until the International Space Station becomes operational.
So harry up if you do not want to miss the unique opportunity.

                             SEARCH FOR TECHNICAL EXPERTS
Product and/or process development requires specific information, knowledge
and/or experience. Specific information/knowledge/experience is mostly not easy
to track down, even not in centres for technology. One reason is that specific
knowledge/experience is mostly linked to individuals, the experts on a
specific topic.
In order to further the search for specific knowledge I am setting up a
database that refers to experts on all kinds of technological topics.
Companies that look for specific knowledge/experience can use the database
to get in touch with the needed expert.
If you are an expert and you like to be included in the database, please
send me (by email) the following information:
KEYWORDS describing your expertise:
* Field of technology, e.g. chemistry: 1 keyword.
* Application in terms of product/process, e.g. thermocouples: 1 - 3 keyword(s).
* Application in terms of industry/activity, e.g. refinery: 1 - 3 keyword(s).
* Description of your specific expertise: preferably 3 keywords, e.g.
degradation, carbonmonoxide, misinterpretation; if not possible: a small text
  is allowable.
 Some Rules:
-For the selection of keywords you may use your own terminology.
-A keyword may consist of more than one word.
-Use the above description for each separate expertise you offer.
-If you feel the use of keywords is too restrictive for a good description,
your expertise is probably not specific but general.
PERSONAL details:
*      Name.
* Name of company you represent (if applicable).
* Email address and/or facsimile number.
*      Country/State.
Confidentiality: My name is J.H. Heerings (Dieren, The Netherlands). I am
writing from a personal interest and as an individual (no company is involved).
The above information will not be used for mailing lists or otherwise; only for
the abovementioned database. I will contact you at the moment the database will
start to run and is accessible to industry.
The information should be emailed to: heerings@worldaccess.nl

Subject: Announce: December Holography
From: director@holoworld.com (Frank DeFreitas)
Date: Sun, 01 Dec 1996 21:03:09 -0500
Hello s.r.:
DECEMBER UPDATE: For The Internet Webseum of Holography --
New: HOLODYNAMICS -- Dynamic Living Through Holographic Principles. This
new section of the holoworld site deals with successful living and
personal interactions through the principles of holographic theories. See
how holography is "more than meets the eye."
New: JFK ASSASSINATION PROJECT -- The Kennedy Assassination is being
reconstructed as a three-dimensional hologram from the Zapruder film for
research. Holograms will also be made of Dealey Plaza, the Grassy Knoll,
Texas School Book Depository, views from next to the "snipers nest" (the
actual snipers nest is enclosed in glass). These Holograms (except for the
Zapruder) will tour when completed in the spring of 97 and will open at
the SMART Center of Lehigh University in April.
New: PART V of the Home Study Course -- Building a Holography Table.
Everything you ever wanted to know about building your own holography
table including step-by-step instructions for home and school. And a few
tips for success as well.
GALLERY: Showcasing our top show of the year: Eduardo Kac -- HoloPoetry.
And the usual: updates to the education wing, Holo-Gram newsletter, ect.
Currently making plans for an amateur/hobbyist show for the Spring. If you
have made a hologram at school or at home and would like to have it
included in the show please contact me now.
Have a great Holiday Sesaon and New Year!

Subject: help: lux autoinducer in Vibrio harveyi
From: epiphany@ix.netcom.com(Andrew John Panyko)
Date: 2 Dec 1996 03:26:18 GMT
I am doing a paper on different quorum sensing/ cell density sensing
systems of bacteria. Does anyone know if there has been any research
on the multiple signaling systems of Vibrio harveyi for bioluminescence
since 1994? Specifically, does anyoneknow if the second putative
autoinducer has been discovered. If not, do you know where would be a
good place to find this info? I'm new to the net, so any info is
appreciated. Please write to epiphany@ix.netcom.com. Thanks.
