A university-industry Ph.D. student position is available at the University of Ottawa. The thesis project will be conducted on the industrial premises of Optiwave Corporation of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Interested parties should send cover letter and CV to the following: Professor P. Berini, email: berini@site.uottawa.ca Dr. J. Jakubczyk, email: jakub@optiwave.com Title: Development of a Full-Wave Numerical Engine for the Analysis of 2-D Waveguiding Structures Operating at Microwave, Millimeter-Wave and Optical Frequencies Description: The goal of the project is the development of a numerical engine to be used for the full-wave vectorial analysis of a general 2-D waveguiding structure. Numerical techniques will be selected and implemented to solve the appropriate electromagnetic wave equations for various microwave and optical guiding structures. The methods selected must be suitable to implementation in a commercial CAD package.Return to Top
I'm interested in the construction of an apparatus for ultrasound production; is there anybody who can help me with a layout of this apparatus and the name of the manifactures of the needed parts? thank you = carlo = -- = __________________________________________________ Siediti al sole, abdica, e sii re di te stesso. Hi, I have to do a presentation on Probiotic Foods to my company's marketing people (ie not too scientific) and I wonder if you people could please help. The sort of info I need is (1) What Probiotic foods are available and how much of them is sold and (2) Any 'net resources that might help me. It's probably best that any info you'd like to send to me you send directly rather than filling up the mailing list. Thanks Andrew -- -------------------------------------------------------- Andrew Kennett Senior Research Scientist - Biotechnology Arnotts Ltd 11 George St Homebush New South Wales Australia tel:+(02)93943686 fax:+(02)93943669Return to Top
Environmental Scientist/Engineer, GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA, http://www.gza.net) hosts the Bioremediation Discussion Group (BioGroup, http://biogroup.gzea.com) on the Internet, which consists of a moderated mailing list serving over 1,300 members worldwide, including environmental consultants, regulators, researchers, and industry representatives. The BioGroup was developed to be a global forum for discussion of intrinsic bioremediation (natural attenuation) and enhanced bioremediation. It is our hope that this forum provides a medium to transfer technology, standardize biotreatability protocol, and advance the science/engineering of bioremediation technologies. GZA recognizes bioremediation is not a panacea for soil/groundwater contamination; however, we feel it is an under-utilized remedial technology, its limitations notwithstanding. The forum was developed to be a springboard for the pursuit of innovative approaches to bioremediation. Because success of the BioGroup is a function of member participation, GZA invites anyone with experience/interest in bioremediation to join. Due to complex biogeochemical processes that control contaminant transformation, we welcome input from environmental engineers, hydrogeologists, soil scientists, microbiologists, environmental chemists, and all who wish to contribute to this important topic. Postings are archived as a collaborative effort of the University of Guelph (Environmental Biology Department), the National Water Research Institute (Environment Canada), and GZA. The archive URL is http://gwrp.cciw.ca/internet/bioremediation/biorem-archive.html. To join the BioGroup, please visit http://biogroup.gzea.com, select "Membership Info", and follow the directions therein. Members select whether to participate in a non-digest mode (i.e., receive each message at the time it is accepted) or a digest mode (i.e., receive one message each day summarizing all the postings of that day). ***There is no membership fee.*** Please direct any questions about the BioGroup to my attention.
