World Energy’s Energy Efficiency Group is an energy conservation engineering and project management team focused on assessing, developing, engineering, and managing commercial energy efficiency projects. Specifically, projects include commercial building energy audits, project scope development, equipment specifications and ROI analyses. We work with local utilities on incentive programs, present project analyses and provide turnkey energy efficiency project solutions for our clients. Our focus is on high ROI lighting, mechanical and energy management systems. We also have renewable energy solutions available to our clients including solar and CHP.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented professional to join our Energy Efficiency Team as a Project Manager with the responsibility for the overall coordination and administration of lighting, mechanical and controls projects for the Company’s energy efficiency business in CT & Downstate NY. The PM will report to the VP-Operations and will work closely with the Project Coordinator and VP, Sales to insure the successful, profitable and timely delivery of projects to its customers.
The ideal candidate will be integral part of World Energy’s utility-sponsored Small Business energy efficiency efforts and will be based in CT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviews and analyzes potential energy efficiency projects with the salesperson/auditor.
- Works w/ engineers as required
- Negotiates and processes subcontractor agreements; approves subcontractor invoices
- Develops and manages sub-contractor and customer relationships
- Processes purchase orders for supplies and materials and approve vendor invoices.
- Manages and coordinates all necessary project logistics
- Reviews project bids and contracts
- Assists salesperson/auditor with establishing project budgets; tracks and reports on budgets
- Manages and administers the construction process and project schedules w/ subcontractors
- Administers documents including contracts, change orders and requisitions
- Coordinates final inspections and sign-offs prior to final release of payments.
- Coordinates w/ customer and subcontractors to identify areas of concern, address issues and ensure timely delivery of all projects
- Meets w/ utility personnel for pre- and post-inspections as required
- Completes all pre- and post-construction utility/project paperwork as required
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of construction procedures and operations
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to read engineering plans
- Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project and Outlook
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to manage tight schedules and meet deadlines
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Flexibility and the ability to organize and prioritize a wide range of projects
- Ability to interpret responsibilities and possesses initiative to assume additional duties
- Ability to travel to property sites to manage projects and emergency situations on short notice
- Skills in troubleshooting and devising scope and specifications for cost-effective solutions
Experience:
- 5-7 years of electrical, plumbing, and/or HVAC project management experience
Education/Licenses:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a plus
- CT E-1 (Master) Electrician license, a plus
