Business Analyst/Project Manager
World Energy, the operator of leading online exchanges for energy and environmental commodities, is seeking a Business Analyst to join our IT department. Our award-winning online auction platform enables customers to secure a highly competitive price for their power and green credits via structured auction events and our post and respond procurement system. World Energy’s customers include federal and state government agencies, Fortune 500 commercial and industrial corporations, utilities, and independent power producers and renewable energy project developers.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for working with operations, sales and marketing teams to lead the design and delivery of our next generation best-in-class software. The ideal candidate must have: - 6 years of web development experience in a project manager/business analyst role
- Track record of successfully delivering innovative software solutions on time and within budget
- Deep understanding of all phases of systems development life cycle methodology – from requirements definition through design and delivery
- Experience with Unified UML concepts (e.g. Use Case Modeling) or equivalent
- Effective organization, planning and meeting skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Visio
- Prior design experience with CRM, purchasing, or accounting software
- Excellent people skills - demonstrated ability to work with both technical and non technical individuals, both in gathering information and communicating direction and status
- Excellent problem solving and idea generation skills
- A strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit
- A passion for building great software
You will be expected to: - Lead rapid, prototype-based, requirement gathering sessions
- Effectively manage project scope, risks and change
- Develop and maintain project schedule for multiple projects
- Lead project team to consensus on project scope
- Develop functional design documents and review with team
- Develop wire frame prototypes utilizing Visio
- Ensure formal review and approval process for all lifecycle deliverables
- Oversee delivery process to ensure software deliverable meets business requirements
- Leverage and generate reusable design standards to be utilized throughout platform
- Work closely with development team to implement design
- Provide quality assurance oversight for all phases of project
