Market Manager World Energy, the operator of leading online exchanges for energy and environmental commodities, is seeking a Market Manager in our Operations Department. Our award-winning online auction platform enables customers to secure a highly competitive price for their power and green credits via structured auction events and our post and respond procurement system. World Energy’s customers include federal and state government agencies, Fortune 500 commercial and industrial corporations, utilities, and independent power producers and renewable energy project developers. The Market Manager role with be responsible for senior analytic and transactional support to Operations, with a primary focus on World Energy's environmental business line. As a Market Manager you will be expected to: - Support and develop the operations infrastructure providing specific transactional support to Market Directors in World Energy's environmental and energy business
- Manage supplier relationships at the transactional level, supporting and coordinating with sales account managers
- Develop expertise regarding the structure, rules and dynamics that drive environmental markets, including domestic RGGI, REC (compliance and voluntary), VER and developing emissions compliance markets, and international VER and Kyoto Regime markets
- Analyze and monitor the market price environment as it applies to environmental transactions
- Maintain data pertinent to all green deals in World Energy’s platform
- Spearhead project initiatives, drawing on the support of an analyst pool
The ideal candidate must have: - Two to four years of experience in an analytical role.
- A competitive drive and confidence in one’s abilities.
- Keen follow-up skills and strong verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced project-oriented environment.
- Attention to detail and experience with internet-based research.
- A strong, self-starter’s work ethic.
- The ability to learn quickly, a comfort level working with minimal direction, and the desire to grow along with World Energy’s continued success.
- Ability to multi-task and willingness to take risks in making business decisions.
- Interest in being an individual contributor and working in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access.
- Experience with more advanced analytical tools such as SAS, SPSS, @Risk, is a plus.
- An undergraduate degree (at a minimum.)
