Take a break from it all. Spend the needed time for yourself and your
fiancee. We all must do this in our own way. When your are ready,
Science will be here for you. You will be able to start with a new vigor
and drive. There are things on the horizon that are beyond ones wildest
dreams. Dreams are what we all are made of. We will look for your
return.

But answer the real question...where are the hubble photos of Hale Bopp
taken THIS year (1996)? Maybe I'm just ignorant and new to this internet
thing, but I can't find anything from Hubble on Hale Bopp later than say
maybe November of last year. Please share the URL of Hubble photos if you
know where they are.

Subject: Back to the Moon (Lunar Base)

I belive that we should go back to the Moon before we go to Mars.
We have gone to war and killed, and died to protect our and our alies
oil supply already, and that is just the tip of the iceberg. The United
States is using over 80% of the world resources now, and the third world
nations are just starting to develope there industrial base (Wait till
China alone hits it's pace!) and they will be compeating for these same
resources that we are consuming now, some of which we don't have, but
are of strategic importance to us, such as chromium for one (needed to
harden metal, and only found in Africa)diamonds, ect, and this will lead
to friction and war for remaining resources.
I think we need to send a automated robotic system to the moon to
build mass drivers, and mine the moon, and a solar foundery would have
to be built in the neutral point between the Earth and Moon (Lamar
point?)
that would convert the raw material to usable fuel and building material
for solar powered microwave stations to relay power to the earth cheeply
enough to help to close down nuclear reactors (carbon pile), coal
powered,
and oil powered plants. These microwave plants MUST make a profit, but
be
cheep enough for poorer countries to buy into instead of developing
other
less efficent power sources.
The United States Department of Agurculture released a study last
year that said by the year 2020 the United States will not be abel to
feed it's own people, let alone help feed the populous of the world.
You can also build large mirrors in space to extend the growing
season
in high latitudes, such as extinding the wheat growing seasion in
Russia.
But alas, we would have to do this internationaly NOW. With the
population
growth and social problems coming down the road, the nations of the
world
will never be abel to afford to do this in the near future. It is sad
what
has happend to our space program. I truly belive that if we do not
return
to the moon soon, mankind will be screwed.

So - only phototrophs and autotrophs are alive.
