For the first time, the nuclear waste disposal industry in Britain has
been challenged on its scientific concepts, and detailed results. A
group of independent scientists and engineers came together in 1995-6,
to demonstrate that proposals to "go underground at Sellafield" were
ill-thought out, flawed and premature. This book brings together the
detailed legal Proofs of Evidence presented by fourteen Expert
Witnesses at the Planning Inquiry into UK Nirex's appeal for planning
permission to develop a "Rock Characterisation Facility" beneath
Longlands Farm, near Sellafield, West Cumbria in the UK. This
underground
laboratory is proposed to be the final confirmatory phase
of site investigation, before construction of a Britain's first
full-scale
radioactive waste repository.
Issues addressed by the evidence are the method for choosing the site,
the geochemical and fluid-flow suitability of the site, the geological
structure of the site, the possibility of modern earthquake activity at
the site, the role of computer modelling in predicting fluid flow and
making a safety case, the timescale of investigations to date, the
quality of the investigations, and the role for the proposed
underground laboratory. These Experts were acting on behalf of the
Objectors:- Cumbria County Council, Greenpeace Ltd, and Friends of the
Earth Ltd.
The scientific Proofs are accompanied by an outline of the three
Objectors' philosophies and legal cases. This highlights the
complementary approaches to planning legislation adopted by each
Objector. The final summing-up of each case by the Objectors'
barristers is also included. The book has a full Index, and key points
of each scientific Proof are abstracted. The book acts a unique
reference compendium, and records part of Britain's most extensive
Planning Inquiries. The scientific problems are now easily accessible
both for public debate, and to inform future research.

Well, I am originally from Malaysia and have worked there. Does that
count?
Sorry about the "dumb" response but it is good to see that the big
organizations are opening doors for the small guys. Wonder when, if
ever, they will extend that scheme to other regions.

pertinent to the petroleum exploration and production industry. It
currently has a staff consisting of two professors, two senior
lecturers, and five post-doctoral fellows, with support personnel. The
current enrollment is twenty PhD, 5 Masters and eight honours students.
Ideally the appointee will have a PhD, considerable experience in a
petroleum exploration related field, and an established international
reputation as a petroleum geoscientist. In addition to technical
expertise, the appointee will have demonstrated evidence of strong
administrative ability and leadership qualities. The appointee will be
expected to contribute to the supervision of honours, masters and
doctoral students. The generation of industry-funded projects is
regarded as a high priority.
The position requires strong interpersonal skills, a consultative
management style and ability to establish and maintain good relations

Subject: optimistism at Denver SEG meeting
From: rick@pangea.Stanford.EDU (Rick Ottolini)
Date: 16 Nov 1996 16:04:17 GMT
People at the 1996 Society of Exploration Geophysicists meeting in Denver
November 10-15 were cautiously optimistic the downsizing trend in the
geophysics industry may be reversing.
There seemed to be more attendees, exhibits and hospitality parties this year.
The employment market was fairly vigorous. An informal poll by yours truly
found about a quarter of the organizations still downsizing and half of
organizations looking for people, some rather aggressively.
On the technical side, I don't think I saw a "blockbuster" algorithm this
year like last year's wavelet compression and coherency cubes.
However there were a lot papers and vendors doing 3D pre-stack migration.
And I observe we are *finally* seeing significant integration
among the products within the large software conglomerates such as Geoscience,
Landmark and Schlumberger-GeoQuest.
What are other people's observations about this SEG meeting?

Subject: the solution

INTERNET
Some people prefear to go on thinking that the Einstein’s relativity
theory is right , thinking that matter cannot reach and substain light
velocity, because in this case matter would have an infinitive mass ,
and it would be necessary to transfer to it an infinitive quantity of
energy to reach light velocity.
At the same time the physics substain that at elemental material level
the time does not exist and that in normal conditions it is not possible
to travel in the time.
As opposite to what mentioned before, the writer, after 20 years of
research out of the pubblic ufficial circuit of the physical research,
can prove that things are different.
Some examples of his theories follows:
-The conception of time and space given by Einstein Relativity is
completly inconsistent applied to the case of light velocity of the
matter and the time is translated by some physical, heavy consistent
material particles but normally invisible.
In many cases the theories substained by the physics are uncomplete or
inadeguated to describe the reality, but because of their lack to give
an explanation to the real phenomenons; they continue to substain that
their concepts is the only truth, thing that is false in the reality.
- The Writer gives some information about: 1) travels of matter at light
velocity in present time, 2) the explanation of the natural composition
of the elemental particles that translate the time in the matter, 3) the
explanation of the forces unification, where it is explained the natural
formation in the sub-elemental particles of the electricity, of the
magnetism and the gravity, 4) explanation of matter at null temperature,
where the quarks can be visible and free, because they are stopped in
the space, expanded and enlarged 10(18 ) times or 1 billion of billions
of times and they are freely visible at naked eyes for about 10 minutes
and they reveal their true physical nature as physical particles.
The Writer brings explanations and ascertained cases which confutate
the Einstein’s relativity theory substaining that the matter can not
travel at light velocity.
The contrary is possible. It is given the right explanation of the whole
physical world (included that the real physical structure of the space
is " not "empty" , but it has a completly different structure
" normally " not ascertainable ").
End of December 1996 it will be ready a book , entitled "THE
QUADRIDIMENTIONAL UNIVERSE", where in about 420 pages with colour
photos and pictures , the writer explains these theories and many other
concepts not already reached by the officials science.
