You can now measure 8 independent thermocouples (C,E,J,K,T,R, & S types)
simultaneously with your PC using either DOS or Windows at low cost.
Temperature monitor plugs directly into serial port of PC for direct
display of temperature vs. time in either tabular or graphic format with
data storage to disk. The monitor comes complete with software program
for PC. For further details contact Lazar Research Labs. Inc. at
1-800-824-2066 in the U.S. or email service@lazarlab.com or fax
1-213-931-1434.

All the major E-line companies provide noise log tools. I have used them
on undergound blowouts on drilling rigs to determine all areas of
fluid/gas movement. A good operator is able to determine if the noise is
fluid, gas or both. Get hold of Schlumberger, Western Atlas or Dia-Log.
They can provide all the info and applications you may want.

It sounds as if you need to make a trip out to the field. If you are any
where close to where I work, let me know and we can set up a trip to a
working drilling rig so you can see all of this equipment "Up close &
personal". I'm in South Texas.

Subject: Geoquest on SGI vs. Sun ?
From: "Ian G. Crozier"
Date: Thu, 14 Nov 1996 13:52:57 -0800
Does anyone have experience of running Geoquest software on a Sun and an SGI?
Specifically, how do Geoquest's 3-d visualization (sp?) packages compare?
Can they even run on a Sun?
Thanks in advance for any information you may give me.

WMC Resources Ltd run both Sun and SGI.
Up to just recently you could only run the 3D visualization on
the SGI. But Sun have apparently just released their Open GL
libraries that will allow you to run 3D visualization
providing you have an Ultra running the latest version
of Solaris.
