The west African state of Guinea has abundant mineral resources and a strong mining industry but
no known oil or gas resources. Its oil industry is therefore dependent on the importation of all
petroleum products. Consumption of liquid fuel products is currently in the order of 450 000 tonnes
per annum (9 000 barrels per day).
