An Introduction to the World DR Exchange

Last month, World Energy unveiled the World DR Exchange™, a new auction platform that changes the economic and competitive dynamics of the multi-billion dollar demand response (DR) market. The World DR Exchange creates the industry’s first online marketplace for demand response, enabling customers to source DR more efficiently and effectively. With the World DR Exchange™,  companies now can engage curtailment service providers (CSPs) in highly-structured auction events designed to yield price transparency, heighten competition, and maximize their share of demand response revenues.

Demand response is one of energy technology’s highest growth sectors, with Barclays Capital estimating the market could grow to $20 billion annually by 2020. In demand response, CSPs work with customers to curtail energy usage during times of peak demand, providing a valuable service to grid operators, one that can prevent blackouts and reduce the need for building new power plants. In return for this service, operators pay a set price per megawatt to CSPs, who in turn pass on a portion of this payment to their customers. For companies looking to keep more of their curtailment proceeds, the World DR Exchange offers a compelling new way to engage the CSP community.

We invite all World Energy Channel Partners to join us for a complimentary 45 minute webinar reviewing demand response services and how you can best incoporate this new product into your service offering.  Featuring Andrew Thomas, World Energy's SVP of Operations, and Steve Schaefer, a principal with Enerlogics and a demand response industry veteran, this event will cover the following:

  • What is Demand Response?
  • World DR Exchange Overview
  • What does this mean for World Energy partners?
  • Highlights of Near Term Opportunities - New York and PJM
  • Overview - other markets (CA-ISO, ERCOT, ISO-NE, MISO)
