Channel partner uses the Exchange reverse online auction platform to procure electricity and gas supplies as enhanced service for its customers.
December 13, 2006. Worcester, MA. World Energy Solutions (TSX: XWE) announces that Global Montello Group Corp., Waltham, Massachusetts, has used the World Energy Exchange to procure more than 100 million kilowatt hours of electricity for its oil and natural gas customers, saving them nearly $1,000,000.
Global Montello joined the World Energy Channel Partner Program in late 2005 as a means to broaden their portfolio of energy offerings for its customer base. Since then, the company has used the World Energy Exchange to secure energy supply for three hospitals, one hotel group, and one manufacturer in the northeastern United States. Contract terms run from six months to five years.
Perry Bernstein, director of natural gas and electricity marketing for Global Montello, said the decision to join the World Energy Channel Partner Program grew out of customer needs and its goal to provide its customers with all aspects of their energy requirements.
“Procurement of electricity for our customers through the World Energy Exchange fits well into Global’s comprehensive energy services portfolio,” said Bernstein. “Our customers were asking us to expand our service offerings beyond liquid fuels and natural gas. We tried procuring electricity through a time-intensive manual process. It was difficult and had gaps in terms of reaching a robust supplier network. The World Energy partner program presented us with an opportunity to add value to our customers and solidify our customer relationships.”
“The World Energy Exchange has opened up a new level of sophistication to our supply procurement activities by enabling access to a much broader supplier network while at the same time expanding our knowledge base of market intelligence through the data maintained in the auction platform,” said Bernstein. “In addition, World Energy uses the Exchange to conduct all the front-end bid planning. They qualify suppliers, run the auction, negotiate contracts and provide all the back office accounting that is critical for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. The online auction is vastly more efficient and delivers a better price for our customers than traditional RFPs,” said Bernstein.
“What we are seeing in the early stages is that the Exchange has had a positive impact in terms of customer satisfaction and savings. It provides another vehicle for forging and growing our customer relationships while, at the same time, improving Global’s ability to predict customer retention and growth,” said Bernstein.
“We are extremely pleased with Global Montello’s commitment to our Channel Partner Program,” said Phil Adams, World Energy COO. “They have invested the time, energy and resources to participate in our inaugural channel partner training program and to develop marketing programs for our service. They have successfully augmented their relationships with liquid fuels and natural gas customers to create electricity products and services offerings which we expect will generate significant savings for their customers.”
