In case you missed it, World Energy recently made an announcement that drew a little attention: our investment in Retroficiency and roll out of a new product, the Virtual Energy Audit. Why the buzz? If we are going to make our existing commercial buildings more efficient (the White House notes commercial buildings account for approximately 20% of total energy consumption in the U.S.), we’ve got a whole lot of energy audits to conduct in order to get started – think hundreds of thousands, if not more. And guess what? Energy audits are still mostly done the old fashioned way, or, as Bennett Fisher, founder of Retroficiency, likes to say, “by guys counting light bulbs.”
